We’ve been running Primal Video for over a decade. 1.8 million subscribers. Millions of views. Ad revenue is solid. By every metric YouTube Studio shows you, the channel is working. But I always had this nagging feeling that some videos were more valuable to the business than others, I just couldn’t prove it.
Once I started tracking what actually matters, the picture looked completely different. Our top video by views (77,000 in 28 days) wasn’t even in the top 10 for conversions. Meanwhile, a video with just 5,600 views was converting at nearly 37%. The content YouTube says is winning is not the same content that’s actually building the business.
